On 20 August, the district police of Point E arrested three men who had been caught in flagrante delicto of touching each other in the water of a local beach. According to the testimonies collected, the suspects were engaged in explicit sexual acts, which aroused the indignation of the witnesses and the crowd present on the spot. The events took place late in the evening on the beach Cassation fréquentée du quartier du Point E, à Dakar. Two witnesses, who are working on the spot, alerted the authorities after observing the three men engaging in a water fight. These witnesses, summoned to the police station to be heard, confirmed their initial statements. They claimed that the detainees were habitués de la plage and that they were already subject to discreet surveillance because of similar behaviour in the past.
