Kopano United triumphed 2-0 over Gloria Academy in a thrilling U11 match at the Back to School Tournament, with coach Tisetso Mofokeng praising his team’s resilience and determination, while Gloria Academy’s coach Daniel Tshidi set his sights on improving his squad’s performance for the semi-finals.
Tsakani – Junior teams went head-to-head at the Malandela ground competing at the Back to School Tournament on January 18.
The U11 game between Gloria Academy and Kopano United started positively with both teams displaying a deep sense of desire to win. The teams played passionately and traded the ball with caution.
Kopano United scored their first goal within the first half. Their coach, Tisetso Mofokeng said they were hoping to score the first goal to put pressure on their opponent.
“When we scored our second goal, I knew that we were stronger than our opponent. There were minor mistakes in the first half which we managed to rectify within in the second half,” he said.
He mentioned that his players worked very hard to win the game.

“They played the game with a lot of enthusiasm. They remained focused and I am very happy that we won. We aim to win many other games this year. We will also win this tournament,” Mofokeng added.
The game ended with a score of 2-0 resulting in a loss for Gloria Academy.
“The game went well. The first half was very tough as our opponent was very strong. Our goalkeeper is still not as strong as I want him to be.
“My team is yet to learn how to tackle the ball strategically, my defence team needs to focus more during the game.
“I believe that we will perform much better in the semi-final games this coming Saturday,” said coach Daniel Tshidi.
Tshidi further mentioned that he is happy with his team’s performance citing that he aims to advance their skills during practice.
