After a remarkable participation in the Senegalese-Turkish business forum on 9 August in Istanbul and marked by the signing of a partnership agreement with a Turkish company under the presidency of Prime Minister Ousmane SONKO, Carrefour Médical distinguished itself on the occasion of TICAD 9 held in Yokohama from 20 to 22 August 2025. In fact, its President Directeur Général, Monsieur Saliou MBOUP et his partner NIPRO, a world leader in the supply of solutions for hemodialysis, were received by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Monsieur Bassirou Diomaye FAYE. The two (2) companies took the opportunity to sign a MOU to strengthen their partnership in the field of dialysis. Through this new strategic partnership, Carrefour Médical wishes to extend its production capacity of dialysis inputs as well as its market by relying on NIPRO which already commercializes its products in Africa. It should be recalled that Carrefour Médical has put into operation, in Senegal, the first production unit of dialysis consumables in West Africa, with an investment of seven (7) billion CFA francs. With a capacity of two million kits, it currently produces three (3) components of the dialysis kit with the ambition to cover the needs of Senegal as well as the sub-region. The objective is to achieve the self-sufficiency of Senegal in terms of dialysis consumables with a substantial reduction of costs in accordance with the objective of health and pharmaceutical sovereignty declined through the Vision Senegal 2050 with the perspective of covering West Africa. The two (2) heads of Carrefour Médical and NIPRO took the opportunity to warmly thank the President of the Republic, who had the honour of receiving them, welcoming the initiative and encouraging the partners to invest more in Senegal in order to reach the sub-regional market of about 500 million inhabitants. It also instructed the Directors of FONSIS and APIX, as well as the Government, to support this partnership in line with the policy of health and pharmaceutical sovereignty of Senegal. As for the President Directeur Général de Carrefour Médical, he said he was reassured by the President of the Republic and his Prime Minister Ousmane SONKO for their constant support and commitment in favour of the national private sector.
