President Bola Tinubu, on Friday evening, met privately with the governors of Benue, Kaduna and Cross River states at the State House in Abuja, as the Federal Government continues to grapple with security and governance challenges across the country.
Governors Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Uba Sani (Kaduna) and Bassey Otu (Cross River) reportedly arrived separately at the Presidential Villa before proceeding to the President’s first-floor office for the closed-door engagements.
While the Presidency did not release details of the discussions, sources with knowledge of the meetings disclosed that deliberations focused on security-related matters and other urgent governance concerns affecting the three states.
Issues said to have featured prominently include communal unrest, banditry and increasing economic pressures.
After the meetings, the governors did not address journalists. They only exchanged brief pleasantries with reporters before heading to their official vehicles at the State House parking area.
As of press time, no official statement had been issued on the outcome of the “strategic” talks.
