Tinubu took Nigeria’s expenditure, debt servicing to N34tn, N12tn in two years – Aja 

A financial expert, Kalu Aja, has said President Bola Tinubu took Nigeria’s expenditure and debt servicing in the last two years from N6 trillion and N7 trillion to N34 trillion and N12 trillion.

He disclosed this on Thursday through X account X.

He said Tinubu in the period under review doubled Nigeria’s revenue from N7.7 trillion to N20.9 trillion.

“No Nigerian President has raised revenues like President Bola Tinubu. He took revenues from N7 trillion to N20 trillion in 24 months.

“No Nigerian President has spent funds like President Bola Tinubu. He took spending from N6 trillion to N34 trillion in 24 months.

“No Nigerian President has borrowed funds like President Bola Tinubu. He increased debt service from N7 trillion to N12 trillion in 24 months,” Aja wrote on X, referencing data from the Budget Office.

His comment comes days after the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, said the country missed its 2025 revenue target.

As of June 2025, Nigeria’s total debt profile had risen to N152 trillion, according to Debt Management Office data.
