​Tivaouane: L’hôpital El Hadji Malick is soon ready to welcome its first patients 

  The Minister of Health, Ibrahima Sy, has announced that the hospital El Hadji Malick Sy de Tivaouane, whose works are completed to 98%, will be operational by June or July. This state-of-the-art 300-bed facility, built on a 24 000 m2 area, represents a major advance in the region’s healthcare offer. It will comprise several specialised centres, equipped with state-of-the-art resuscitation and diagnostic equipment, thus guaranteeing high quality care. The recruitment and training of medical and paramedical personnel are absolute priorities, in order to ensure an optimal mastery of the latest generation equipment. The Minister also stressed the importance of a patient-centred governance model aimed at offering accessible, effective and humanized care. This major project, spearheaded by the Fonds souverain d’investissements stratégiques (FONSIS), has mobilised an investment of more than 46 billion FCFA. The presence of various state services on the site constitutes a major asset to ensure an optimal and durable functioning of the establishment. The El Hadji Malick Sy Hospital thus presents itself as a centre of medical excellence, designed to strengthen the health system and to meet the growing needs of the populations of Tivaouane and the surrounding regions.
