Touba: 23 million F Cfa, jewels and gold and silver stolen from the widow of the Khalife des Baye Fall

On 16 September 2025, Sokhna Momy Mbacké, daughter of the marabout Serigne Sohibou Mbacké and widow of the former Khalife général des Baye-Fall, appeared in person at the tribunal de Diourbel. Despite a precarious state of health, she was forced to attend the trial concerning the theft of which she was a victim in November 2024. The events date back to the night of 9 to 10 November last, when individuals entered by escalade in his residence in Touba. The thieves stole two rings, two bracelets in 24 carat gold, two smartphones and a sum of 23 million CFA francs, reports Dakaractu. After the filing of a complaint, an investigation led by the Touba gendarmerie allowed to locate one of the stolen smartphones, a Redmi Note Pro 10, in the hands of Touba Guèye, a 29-year-old merchant. Arrested, he claims to have bought the device from his cousin, Aziz Guèye. The two men were charged with “association de malfaiteurs et vol commis la nuit avec escalade”, then placed under a warrant of arrest. During the hearing, the declarations of Touba Guèye were judged inconsistent and contradictory by the tribunal.
