The Tribunal des délits flagrants de Dakar has condemned, on Tuesday 20 May, the student A.A. Diakité to two years of imprisonment ferme pour usage et cession de 41 cornets de chanvre indien. Attracted to the bar, the accused shall acknowledge the facts of which he is accused. Attempting to justify himself, M. Diakité declared: “My scholarship has been cancelled, I could not afford more. Under social pressure, I wanted to find money to help my mother prepare the fête de la Tabaski. I’m not sure. He added that he had been arrested at the UCAD stadium in the company of two friends. The main person responsible for the network, another 24-year-old student, was arrested in a thoroughly prepared operation by the forces of order of the commissariat of Point E, thanks to a collection of information and a close collaboration with the security of the Centre des œuvres universitaires de Dakar (COUD). He had been remanded in custody since 14 May.
