Polokwane – Forty-five-year-old Peter Themba Baloyi of Rotterdam Village in Limpopo has been found hanging, a day after the body of his missing 15-year-old daughter, Xilaveko Suke, was discovered at his residence.
Police in Hlanganani said Baloyi, whose body was found hanging on Boxing Day, Friday 26 December 2025, was identified by his family.
Although Suke lived in the same village as her father, she resided with her mother at a different residence.
Suke had reportedly left Rotterdam Village for Giyani with her father to do some Christmas shopping.
The 15-year-old girl and her father were reported missing on Monday, 22 December 2025, after she failed to return home.
Police appealed to the community for help in tracing their whereabouts.
Suke’s body was discovered on Christmas Day, Thursday, 25 December 2025, inside her father’s one-room dwelling at Rotterdam Village.
The dwelling was later set alight by unknown persons.
However, her father was nowhere to be found.
The next day, Boxing Day, Baloyi was found hanging from a tree.
Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, said: “On Friday, 26 December 2025, at about 13:30, following intensive investigations, his body was discovered hanging from a tree in nearby bushes at Rotterdam Village.
“An inquest docket has been opened to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.”
