Takehiro Tomiyasu is set to undergo medicals ahead of a move to Ajax, according to BBC.
The Japanese defender became a free agent after his contract with Arsenal was terminated in the summer.
The Gunners brought in Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera, meaning Tomiyasu’s first team opportunities would be limited.
The 27-year-old has been completing a rehabilitation programme following knee surgery in February, but is now back training and poised to restart his career in Amsterdam, provided he passes a medical.
Tomiyasu will sign a short-term deal with the Eredivisie club until the end of the season.
