Troops of 12 Brigade have neutralized a suspected terrorist during a fighting patrol at OdoapeāAdankolo Forest in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
This was made known in a post on X by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region.
The source said the encounter occurred at about 1400hrs on March 23, 2026, when the patrol team made contact with the fleeing suspect.
According to Makama, preliminary investigation identified the neutralized individual as a notorious terrorist involved in providing intelligence and targets for kidnappings, as well as cattle rustling and supplying logs to terrorist groups.
āThe military has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive patrols and intelligence-led operations to curb criminal activities and protect residents in the area,ā the source said.
DAILY POST recalls that Kogi State has in recent times become a flash point of banditry activities, where scores of residents have been kidnapped and others died in the process.
