Troops of Sub-Sector 3B under Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have rescued a woman who was kidnapped in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The rescue was contained in a post shared on X on Sunday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, the troops, who are deployed at Kufai Amadu in Takum LGA, received intelligence around 1:13 p.m. on Friday about the abduction of a woman in Torikegha village, Chanchanji Ward.
The woman, identified as Mrs Iloda Ayinba, was reportedly kidnapped while on her way to her farm.
“The attackers were said to be suspected herdsmen who were relocating from the area,” Makama wrote.
Following the report, troops quickly moved to the village and launched a search-and-rescue operation.
They pursued the kidnappers along their escape route and carried out a thorough search of the surrounding bush, extending to the power line corridor linking Taraba and Benue states.
The pressure from the military operation forced the kidnappers to abandon the woman in the bush and flee.
Mrs Ayinba was later rescued safely by the troops, while no contact was made with the suspects during the operation.
