A tricycle operator and his female passenger, on Tuesday evening, perished in a fatal road accident along Umuahia-Ubani-Uzuakoli Road in Abia State, after a fast moving truck crushed the tricycle.
The incident, which happened at a dangerous junction popularly known as ‘Sign Board’ along Ubani Market road, resulted in the instant death of two occupants of the tricycle.
An eyewitness, who simply identified himself as Uche, said the truck was on top speed before the accident occurred, adding that impact of the horrible accident threw the tricycle under the truck.
According to the eyewitness, the driver of the truck quickly ran away from the scene after realizing that the tricycle occupants were dead.
DAILY POST gathered that three similar accidents happened on the same spot in 2025, claiming many lives.
Confirming the latest accident to DAILY POST, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Abia State Sector Command, Ngozi Ezeoma, described it as tragic and sad.
She reiterated the call for motorists and other road users in Abia to adhere to road safety rules to prevent avoidable losses.
