Over 67,000 white South Africans, primarily Afrikaners, have shown a desire to apply for refugee status in the United States following an executive order by President Donald Trump. The South African Chamber of Commerce in the United States provided a list to the US Embassy in Pretoria after Trump’s assertion that Afrikaners are experiencing racial discrimination and land expropriations in South Africa. This has led to a surge of applications regarding Trump’s plan for Afrikaner refugees.
