Tsakani – Ballers FC and BSI Football Academy played a thrilling game last Friday evening at the Tsakane Stadium.
The game started on a high note, with both teams determined to score goals. Spectators cheered from all corners of the stadium, encouraging their favourite team to score a goal or two.
Neither team scored in the first half of the game.
“The first half was fast and maintained a high tempo throughout from both teams. Aside from speed, both teams had a lot of quality play.
“The quality made it tight for both teams. The game could have played out differently for either one. In soccer, every day is a chance to improve. Whatever we picked up in the first half, we tried to correct within the second half,” said BSI Football Academy coach Sibusiso Ntsinde.
He said they picked up there was an overload on one side of their team when attacking with one of their fallbacks.
“We dropped our winger inside to ensure we close the inside channels. Eventually, the other team’s winning goal came from the same side they played the crossing.
“The goalkeeper could not hold the ball. Our team is a young squad so every chance they get is to learn. I am happy with how they played. Their performance throughout the game was good,” he said.
The game ended in 1-0, resulting in a good win for Ballers FC. Their co-coach, Mbusi Godwill, said the first half of the game was well-balanced but they could not score any goals nor break the game.
“We did not create enough opportunities to say we had an upper hand against our opponents.
“We made changes and substituted players who managed to manoeuvre the game for us; although we knew that could not break the other team.
“Within our changes, we managed to move to wider spaces to ensure we had enough space to make tactical decisions.
“The win is nice and has motivated us to participate efficiently in the league,” he said.
