Super Eagles forward, Paul Onuachu showcased an outstanding performance on Monday, netting two goals as Trabzonspor achieved a convincing 3–1 win over Kayserispor in their Turkish Super Lig encounter at the Kadir Has Stadium.
The Nigerian international initiated the scoring just two minutes into first-half stoppage time, rising above the defenders to head in a cross from Wagner Pina.
Onuachu found the net again five minutes later, skillfully converting a penalty with nearly the last kick of the half, providing Trabzonspor with a comfortable lead as they headed into the break.
In the second half, Trabzonspor increased their lead after Kayserispor’s goalkeeper Bilal Bayazit accidentally diverted the ball into his own goal.
Later, Russian-Nigerian forward, German Onugha managed to score for the hosts in the 82nd minute, but it was merely a consolation as the visitors maintained their dominant performance for the victory.
This brace allowed Onuachu to extend his remarkable scoring streak in the Turkish Super Lig, having scored in seven consecutive league matches.
During this streak, the striker found the back of the net against Kasimpasa, Antalyaspor, Samsunspor, Fenerbahçe, Gaziantep FK, Fatih Karagümrük, and Kayserispor, bringing his total to nine goals across those seven games.
With this achievement, the towering forward has matched the longest goal-scoring streak of his professional league career.
He previously reached this milestone during the 2020/2021 season while playing for the Belgian club KRC Genk.
Onuachu’s recent goals have also secured him a place in Trabzonspor’s history, as he became the first player since Burak Yılmaz, who scored in seven consecutive matches for the club between December 2011 and January 2012.
In total, the Nigerian striker has now amassed 22 goals and two assists in 25 league appearances this season, further solidifying his reputation as one of the most prolific forwards in the Turkish top flight.
