The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) reported that two individuals died and nine others sustained injuries in a collision involving three vehicles at Tipper Garage on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. Mr. Adekunle Ajibade, the South-West Area Commander of TRACE, provided confirmation of the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday. He noted that the accident, which involved a total of 14 people, included a DAF truck with the license plate JJJ 144 XD, a Mazda bus with the plate EPE 394 XP, and a tricycle identified by the plate DGB 599 VC, and occurred around 7:40 p.m. On Monday, Ajibade reported that a truck was parked on a slope at a warehouse entrance across from Tipper Garage with its engine running and the handbrake engaged by the driver. He explained that the driver left the truck to hand a waybill to the security guards at the warehouse gate. Eventually, the truck rolled backwards onto the expressway after the handbrake failed, resulting in an accident that killed two people and injured nine others, while three were uninjured. “The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Ifo General Hospital in Ogun, and the injured are receiving treatment there as well,” he stated. Ajibade mentioned that the rescue efforts were conducted by personnel from TRACE and the Federal Road Safety Corps, who cleared the vehicles from the road to facilitate traffic flow. He urged drivers to slow down and follow traffic laws.
