A pair of Quebec liquid planes and their crews are working in California to combat the extensive fires that are ravaging the Los Angeles region. The two helicopters are sent to the U.S. each drop as part of an annual contract, which was extended this year because of the urgency, according to Stéphane Caron of Quebec’s SOPFEU. He claims that each helicopter is sent out from Quebec with a captain, co-pilot, and engineer on board. As of early this morning, more than 1, 000 institutions across the Los Angeles area have been destroyed and at least two people have died as a result of at least four fires involving dozens of paramedics. On X, Quebec Public Security Minister François Bonnardel expressed support for the government of California by saying that the state is prepared to dispatch more firefighters if necessary.
