Nigeria and Samoa each received one point after their opening Group C match at the ICC U-19 women’s T20 World Cup was canceled due to rain. There was no toss held before the game, which was scheduled to take place at Borneo Cricket Ground in Sarawak, Malaysia.
Nigeria is set to face New Zealand in their next match on Monday, January 23, also at the Borneo Cricket Ground, before going against South Africa in their final Group C match on Wednesday, January 22. In Group B, England and Ireland also shared the points.
Ireland sent England into bat, and opener Davina Perrin gave them a quick start with 26 runs off 19 balls, including the tournament’s first six. Charlotte Stubbs scored 31 off 34 balls, and Jemima Spence contributed 37 off 27, leading England to a total of 144-7 from 20 overs. Ireland’s batting began with excitement, reaching 28-2 after 3.5 overs, but the rain interrupted play and the game could not continue.
