Manchester United legend, Roy Keane, has criticized Real Madrid player, Trent Alexander-Arnold for his display in their 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg encounter in mid-week.
Keane said the England international made a childish mistake against Bayern Munich during the match at Santiago Bernabeu as he failed to defend properly against Luis Diaz.
Despite providing teammate Kylian Mbappe an assist, Alexander-Arnold was unable to contribute enough at the backline.
The 27-year-old made a crucial error in letting Diaz slip off behind his shoulder to score Bayern Munich’s first goal before Harry Kane doubled the lead for the Bundesliga giants.
Speaking on Stick to Football, Keane said he was fed up with Alexander-Arnold.
“Listen, I’m fed up. The same story in every important match. People keep talking about how well the ball is passed, but what about the basics? Defending,” Keane said.
“At this level, in the Champions League, you can’t just switch off like that. It’s a childish mistake. Letting Luis Díaz get past you like you’re not even there? Please.”
