UCL: ‘He can score in different ways’ – Arne Slot speaks on Osimhen ahead knockout clash

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, has said that Nigerian star player, Victor Osimhen, will be a tough opponent for them in their upcoming UEFA Champions League game against Galatasaray on Tuesday.

Before the game, Slot talked about how the Nigerian player can make a difference in many ways and is very flexible in how he plays.

“I believe Galatasaray has many strong players, but their ability to move the ball quickly is definitely one of their biggest strengths.

“Of course, one of the first players that comes to mind is Victor Osimhen, who is also a very good striker.

“He can score from crosses, he can score in different ways, but he is definitely a big danger when the team starts a quick counter-attack,” said Slot, as reported by Liverpool’s official website.

“Osimhen can be a danger to Liverpool when he is in the box and during quick attacks,” he added.

The Dutch manager also said that Galatasaray’s attacking team is not only depending on Osimhen.

Referencing the team’s last match, he added, “But they have more than just Osimhen in their front line who are all really quick.

“In our last game against them, Baris Alper Yilmaz was a problem for us because he was a bit too quick twice in the first half.

“Both times he was heading towards the goalkeeper.”

The previous match between the two teams took place on 30 September 2025 at RAMS Park in Istanbul during the UEFA Champions League league phase.

On that day, Osimhen was the key player, helping Galatasaray beat Liverpool 1-0.

The Super Eagles player took a penalty in the 16th minute, helping Galatasaray get their first European victory against Liverpool this season.

Osimhen has already had a big effect in the current UEFA Champions League, with seven goals scored so far.
