​United States: a 17-year-old Senegalese shot dead outside his home in Atlanta 

  A tragedy has struck the Senegalese diaspora in Atlanta, in the United States. Babacar Coulibaly, aged 17, was shot dead in cold blood in front of his home in the night of Saturday 5 to Sunday 6 July. The victim, born in the United States of Senegalese parents originally from Bakel (east of Senegal), had just accompanied a friend who had visited him when they were taken for target by the shooters. According to the first elements of the investigation, the shootings broke out while the two young people had just left the house. The young Babacar Coulibaly unfortunately died on the spot of the attack, while his friend, seriously wounded, was transported urgently to the nearest hospital centre. The events took place in a quiet residential area of Atlanta, which adds to the general lack of understanding of this gratuitous violence. The body of the victim has been transferred to the medico-legal institute where the médecins légistes will have to determine the exact circumstances of the death. The local police authorities immediately opened a thorough investigation to identify the perpetrators of this murder and understand the reasons that could have led to such an act of violence. L’Info.
