An enquiry has been sent to the Duduza SAPS and the Gauteng Department of Education about the incident.

Duduza – Normal schooling resumed after a blaze damaged a section of the administration block of the Thandi Eleanor Sibeko Secondary School on June 2.
The community of Masechaba View woke to a thick cloud of smoke on Monday at 06:50 as flames ravaged the school building.
According to Warrant Officer Majang Skalkie of Duduza SAPS, the school principal arrived at work to find his office, the deputy principal’s office, and the printing room in flames.

“A case of arson has been opened for investigation, and no injuries were reported,” she added.
The school sent the learners home before the school day began, despite the flames having been subdued.
Some learners had been concerned that the fire might delay schooling, and some said they were meant to write exams on that day. The Gauteng Department of Education has failed to respond to The African Reporter’s enquiry.
