A man known as “Chef Aidara”, posing as a gendarme, was arrested on Wednesday by police in Dieupeul, Mermoz (Dakar). Under a false identity, he controlled the motorists before asking them for financial support, claiming to help his mother who was supposedly ill. His real name is M. Thiaw, l’homme se présentait comme étudiant et arborait des tenues de policier ou de gendarme to conduct his swindles. He was a student of the University of Paris, and he was a police officer. It was not his first time: already arrested and sentenced in 2023 for similar facts, the suspect was placed in custody, according to our confrères du quotidien Libération.
