Villarreal supporters have launched a petition to prevent the signing of Partey.

Reports indicate that former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is likely to move to Villarreal, causing disappointment among the Spanish club’s supporters. In response, hundreds have signed a petition calling for the transfer to be canceled, labeling it the “darkest day in the club’s history,” according to theguardian. According to reports, Partey was present in a London court on Tuesday facing five charges of rape involving two women, as well as a charge of sexual assault against a third woman. The purported crimes reportedly occurred in 2021 and 2022 while Partey was with Arsenal. On Tuesday, Partey was granted conditional bail, and the chief magistrate mentioned that he understood the 32-year-old would likely be relocating to Spain soon. Villarreal has reached an agreement to sign the Ghana international on a one-year deal, which includes an option to prolong the contract for an additional year. La Liga expert claims that Villarreal fans are not keen on having their names linked to Partey. Rahul Lakhani, a journalist specializing in football and an expert on La Liga who manages the La Liga London account, stated: “It has shaken the community.” I’ve received some aggressive reactions on my social media, with people insisting that he is innocent until proven guilty.
