Tosin Demehin, a defender for Nigeria’s Super Falcons, has expressed that Zambia does not pose a significant challenge. The Super Falcons are set to face Zambia in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco this Friday. The Falcons topped Group B with seven points from two wins and one draw, while Zambia finished second in Group A, also with seven points. Despite this, the Falcons have yet to concede any goals, while Zambia has allowed four. Nevertheless, the Copper Queens have scored in all their group matches, thanks to their standout players Barbara Banda and Racheal Kundananji, who each netted three goals contributing to a total of six. Additionally, Zambia’s coach Häuptle has stated that they will be prepared for the upcoming match. As the important match approaches, Demehin downplayed the challenge presented by their opponent on Friday. “Zambia isn’t as formidable a team as the Super Falcons,” Demehin stated during a Brila FM interview. “We’ve played three matches without letting in any goals, whereas Zambia has already conceded four.” Demehin has been an integral part of the Super Falcons’ defense, successfully preventing goals during their time in Morocco. She has participated in all three matches played by Justin Madugu’s team. The nine-time WAFCON champions are looking to reclaim victory against Zambia following their loss in the 2022 WAFCON. In that tournament, the two teams faced each other in the third-place play-off, where Zambia won 1-0. Other quarter-final matches include the defending champions South Africa against Senegal, Algeria facing Ghana, and the host nation Morocco taking on Mali.
