President of the United States, Donald Trump, says he is likely to hold phone talks with Iran today amid the ongoing crisis between the two countries.
Trump made this known on Monday while fielding questions from reporters, claiming that Iran wants to make a deal.
According to the president, his Middle East special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner conducted talks Sunday into the evening.
The president added that talks would continue today.
While he did not name any official or officials representing Tehran, Trump said the US has not talked to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.
Trump said if a deal is reached with Iran, the US will move to take Iranās enriched uranium critical to its disputed nuclear program.
Recall that the war started on February 28 when the United States and Israel jointly attacked Iran and killed its Supreme Leader, alongside many others.
Iran has retaliated by bombing several of the US interests in the Middle East and also attacked Tel Aviv in Israel.
