
A ballistic missile launched from Iran towards Turkeyās airspace was on Wednesday intercepted by NATO defense systems.
According to Fox News, the development was disclosed in a statement by Turkeyās defense ministry.
Reports indicated that the missile was detected after crossing the Iraqi and Syrian airspace and was intercepted by NATO units stationed in the eastern Mediterranean.
It was gathered that debris from the missile fell into a district of Hatay province, near Turkeyās border with Syria.
However, no casualties have so far been reported.
āEvery step taken to defend our territory and airspace will be taken resolutely and without hesitationā.
āWe remind all parties that we reserve the right to respond to any hostile actions against our countryā, Turkeyās defense ministry said.
