At least six people were killed in clashes with police after hundreds of protesters stormed the U.S. Consulate in the Pakistani city of Karachi on Sunday, officials said.

The violence erupted after the United States and Israel carried out attacks on Iran that killed the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, triggering outrage among demonstrators.

Hospital officials in Karachi confirmed that at least eight people were wounded in the clashes.
