US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Tuesday that the United States-Israeli strikes on Iran are not part of an endless nation-building effort.
Hegseth made the statement during a press briefing in Washington, D.C., while giving an update on the US/Israel bombardment of Iran.
“This is not 2003. This is not endless nation-building under those types of quagmires we saw under Bush or Obama.
“It’s not even close. Our generation of soldiers will not let that happen again,” he said.
According to him, President Donald Trump would not allow such an open-ended conflict, saying that the president clearly ran against those kinds of never-ending, nebulously scoped missions.
Recall that the war started in late February when the United States and Israel hit Iran with airstrikes, resulting in the death of its Supreme Leader and other top government officials.
