France has described the United States of America as an ‘unpredictable ally’, saying America did not bother to inform it before going to war with Iran.
The chief of staff of France’s armed forces, Fabien Mandon, stated this, according to Reuters, indicating that the US is affecting France’s interests and security.
During a security and defense forum held in Paris on Tuesday, Mandon stated, “We were taken aback by an American ally, who continues to be an ally, yet is becoming more unpredictable and failed to notify us when they opt to initiate military operations.
“This situation influences our security and affects our interests.”
Although France and the US are close NATO allies, tensions have escalated following Washington’s decision to commence its military actions against Iran.
Mandon noted that France had intervened in Afghanistan at the request of the US, only for the US to withdraw without prior notification to France.
“They have now chosen to engage in the Middle East without keeping us informed,” he said.
European countries have refused to join the war in Iran, even the NATO allies, saying the US did not inform them before attacking Iran.
