The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has said that they are collaborating with Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to ensure that Nigeria, and indeed northern Nigeria, gets back on its feet.
“Although, we are today here not for politics but to celebrate Sallah with Kwankwaso, but I bet you we are putting a strong association to bring back Kano and its Industrial hubs,” he said.
Speaking in Kano at the Millar Road country home of Kwankwaso, Mr Peter Obi said further, “we are bringing Bompai, Sharada Industrial centers back to their lives and also Bank of the North would surely be back”.
Seyi Makinde (Governor of Oyo State), Senator Seriake Dickson (former Governor of Bayelsa State), and Peter Obi are among hundreds of guests who attended Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s political gathering in Kano.
The gathering, with the presence of Nigerian political bigwigs mainly from the opposition PDP and ADC, was said to have prepared the ground for Kwankwaso’s formal defection from his troubled New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Kwankwaso’s NNPP, associated with the books logo, had suffered setbacks at an Abuja Appeal Court, which denounced it as the originally recognised NNPP, giving credence to the NNPP with the vegetables logo.
Reports have it that, following the development, Kwankwaso has started consultations across the board, with his focus more on the ADC.
