The Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, better known as Ekklesiyan Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN), has said that genocide is being perpetrated against Christians in Nigeria, despite denials in some quarters.
The church, during its Ministers’ Annual Conference at its headquarters in Kwarhi, Adamawa State.
In his address, President of the EYN, Rev. Daniel Mbaya, said members of his church had fallen victim to genocide.
“The issue of Christian genocide that even some Christians are saying does not happen, may God have mercy on them and the blood of thousands of our members killed for no sin of theirs but only for being Christians, convict them to repent,” Mbaya said.
Naming some of his members whom he said had been killed, the EYN President added that over 100,000 women had their husbands gruesomely murdered, while more than 130,000 orphans now exist because their parents were killed.
The 2026 EYN Ministers’ Annual Conference was held under the theme, ‘Pastors’ Identity in Christ’.
One of the EYN ministers at the conference, Rev. Toma Ragnjiya, explained that the conference was intended to achieve spiritual renewal for pastors.
He said, “We are being sensitised to accept that everyone is somebody. Even as a church, we subscribe to the African culture of respect for elders and regard for all.”
A foreign delegate at the conference, Rev. Ralf Rohrbach-Koop, said he was impressed by the generally peaceful atmosphere and friendly people in Nigeria.
“Against what much of the world believes, Nigeria is peaceful, and there is religious harmony,” Rohrbach-Koop told newsmen who covered the conference.
