West Ham Names Potter as New Manager

West Ham United has announced the appointment of Graham Potter as their new head coach. “West Ham United is thrilled to welcome Graham Potter as the Club’s new Head Coach,” the London club stated on Thursday. The 49-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half year contract and will lead his new team for the first time when they face Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round on Friday evening. A highly regarded and sought-after coach, Potter had been waiting for the right opportunity after leaving Chelsea in April 2023, and he was the unanimous choice of the Board to guide the Club in accordance with its goals and ambitions. Known for his progressive style and adaptable tactical approach, which previously gained him recognition at Swedish club Östersund, Swansea City, and Brighton & Hove Albion, Potter is eager to return to Premier League management and is excited to work with West Ham United’s talented squad of international players. West Ham dismissed Julen Lopetegui on Wednesday after he achieved only six Premier League victories in 20 matches this season, leaving the team in 14th place. He was hired to replace David Moyes last May. Graham Potter is returning to management nearly 20 months after being fired by Chelsea just seven months and 31 games into a five-year contract.
