The Senegalese political climate continues to be recomposed at great speed. After the failed announcement by Ousmane Sonko on the separation from the former leaders of the APR integrated in the government of Diomaye Faye, a question burns on all lips: what kind of place will be reserved for Aminata “Mimi” Touré? The former Prime Minister, who had broken with Macky Sall before joining the Diomaye Président project, had imposed himself as a figure of rallying between two worlds: that of the old regime and that of the new governance issue de Pastef. But today, with Sonko’s expressed desire to break definitively with “the remnants of the APR system”, Mimi Touré’s position seems more and more uncomfortable. In his recent outings, Sonko has not mâché ses mots contre ceux qu’il accuse de “double jeu” et de “manque de loyauté” au projet de rupture. A statement that many interpret as a direct warning to certain members of the government, including Mimi Touré, often cited among the personalities issues of the ancien régime. It remains to be seen whether the former head of government will choose fidelity to the new ruling coalition or whether she will prepare a new political turn, faithful to her independent temperament. One thing is certain: the reconstitution of the government announced by Sonko et Diomaye could well be a decisive moment for the political destiny of Mimi Touré.
What future for Mimi Touré after the break between Sonko and the elders of the APR? (Parliament adopted the resolution)
