Wike lauds Tinubu’s appointment of Orluwene as CMD Uniport teaching hospital

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Professor Chituru Godwill Orluwene as the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH).

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike described the appointment as a reflection of President Tinubu’s continued confidence in qualified professionals from Rivers State.

According to the Minister, the President has consistently demonstrated his love for Rivers State and its people.

He added that the people of the state would continue to support the President’s administration.

“We will keep supporting him to continue with his good governance,” Wike said.

He further described Professor Orluwene’s appointment as another round peg in a round hole.

He urged the new CMD to deploy his wealth of experience to further strengthen the teaching hospital in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Wike also expressed appreciation to the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, for recommending Professor Orluwene for the position.

“I congratulate Prof Orluwene on this appointment and urge him to work collaboratively with all stakeholders in UPTH to ensure the continued delivery of quality healthcare services to Nigerians,” the Minister stated.

Professor Orluwene’s appointment is expected to bolster leadership and service delivery at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, one of the country’s foremost tertiary healthcare institutions.
