Polokwane – Thirty-five-year-old Tshwarelo Faith Maboya, who was arrested by police during a drug bust at a flat in Onverwacht, Lephalale, has been remanded in custody until next month.
After her arrest earlier this week, the accused appeared before the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo on Wednesday, 8 April 2026.
Narrating events leading to Maboya’s arrest, spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said on Tuesday, 7 April 2026, police launched a multi-disciplinary intelligence-driven operation in Onverwacht.
The operation was based on intelligence regarding alleged drug-dealing activities in the area.
“During the operation, police searched a flat in Onverwacht, where Maboya was found,” said Colonel Ledwaba.
“Upon searching the premises, members discovered 423 grams of crystal meth and 31 grams of CAT (methcathinone), with an estimated street value of R55 000.
“An amount of cash exceeding R1 000 was also found.”
As a result, Maboya was arrested and charged with the illegal possession of illicit drugs.
Colonel Ledwaba said the accused’s boyfriend, a 34-year-old Nigerian identified as Simon Okoya, was also arrested during the investigation.
“He is facing a separate charge of contravention of the Immigration Act (Act No. 13 of 2002),” the police spokesperson said.
Maboya was remanded in custody until 17 April 2026 for a formal bail application.
