Africa has officially designated its ambassadors for the FIFA World Cup 2026. At the end of an intense elimination phase, nine countries on the continent validated their direct tickets for the competition organised jointly by the United States, Canada and Mexico. Thanks to the expansion of the tournament, African football ensures for the first time a record presence, reflecting the rise in power of its teams on the international stage. South Africa, Algeria, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal and Tunisia will represent the African continent at the FIFA World Cup 2026. This contingent is a mixture of regulars in the final, like Morocco, sensation of the last World Cup, Senegal, champion of Africa, and Egypt, always formidable. But this list also celebrates the ascension of Cape Verde, whose qualification is a historic feat for this small island country.
