Youth and women at the heart of the PASTEF project: a tool for the transformation of Senegal

Young people and women have played a decisive role in the achievement of the PASTEF project, as underlined by Yacine Diagne during a conference on the place and role of women and young people in the transformation agenda of Senegal 2050. In her speech, Yacine Diagne insisted on the fact that the objective of the project had been achieved thanks to the determination, sacrifice and commitment of all, but also highlighted the challenges that remain to be overcome. “We must fight harder to get Senegal out of poverty and dependence”. She called for a continuous mobilization of young people and women for the development of the country, underlining that women, in particular, play a crucial role in this transformation. “The priority is the women, who are present everywhere. They hold the economy, they are in the market, they are often the first victims of medical care”, she said. According to Yacine Diagne, the Sénégal 2050 reference framework includes many measures to improve the situation of young people and women, particularly in terms of training and access to finance. “To achieve our objectives, we are patient”, she added. “More than 60 years of bad governance cannot be resolved in nine months of governance.
