
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Jigawa State Command, has ordered the massive deployment of officers and men across the 27 Local Government Areas of the State before, during and after the festive period.
This is contained in a statement signed by ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, Public Relations Officer, NSCDC Jigawa State Command issued to newsmen.
He said the deployment cuts across regular and specialized units of the Corps, including Operations, Anti-Vandal Unit, Agro Rangers, Armed Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit, CBRNE, Intelligence and Investigation, Disaster Management as well as Medical Units, all strategically positioned to provide effective security coverage.
He explained that, Special attention has been placed on the protection of places of worship, public utilities, recreational centers, government installations, motor parks, markets, shopping malls and other identified vulnerable areas.
The statement added that, major entry and exit routes into the state, including border areas, are being adequately manned to enhance surveillance and conduct stop-and-search operations where necessary.
The State Commandant charged officers to adhere strictly to the Corps’ Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintain professionalism, exhibit civility in the discharge of their duties and apply minimal force where absolutely necessary.
He further emphasized the need for effective synergy and collaboration with sister security agencies to ensure the overall success of the operation.
The Command also called on members of the public to be law-abiding, vigilant and cooperative with security personnel, and to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security formation.
The statement also advised parents to closely monitor the activities of their wards, while the general public was cautioned against the use of fireworks, knockouts and other dangerous items capable of causing panic or fire outbreaks.
The State Commandant sternly warned vandals and other criminal elements to desist from targeting government installations, critical infrastructure and public utilities, stressing that anyone apprehended will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
He also wished the Christian faithful a Merry Christmas and all residents of Jigawa State a peaceful and prosperous New Year.
