Yuletide: Taraba Police Command demands advance notice on gift sharing eventsĀ

The Taraba State Police Command has directed individuals, organizations and philanthropists planning large-scale gift distributions and charitable activities during the Yuletide season to notify the nearest police formation ahead of time to ensure adequate security and orderly conduct.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Jalingo, the Command said prior notification would allow the police to deploy sufficient personnel, manage crowds effectively and prevent incidents such as stampedes that often occur during public giveaways.

The police noted that collaboration with event organizers has, in previous festive seasons, helped to safeguard lives and property while promoting community harmony.

The statement, signed by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Victor Mshelizah, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring a safe and peaceful Christmas and New Year celebration across the state.

The Command said it has strengthened its security architecture with intensified patrols, intelligence-led operations and strategic deployments across highways, markets, places of worship and recreational centres.

These measures, according to the statement, are in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to ensure a crime-free festive period nationwide.

Residents and visitors travelling into the state for the holidays were also assured of their safety, as all necessary resources, according to the police, have been mobilized to deter criminal activities and guarantee smooth celebrations.

The Taraba Police Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or security concerns to the nearest police station, stressing that timely information is critical to maintaining peace during the festive season.

The Command reiterated its commitment to working closely with the public to ensure a secure and joyful yuletide celebration across the state.
