Zamfara: ADC advises Tinubu on actions needed to reclaim N56 million in taxes taken by bandits.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has stated that it is not seeking the resignation of President Bola Tinubu despite the rising insecurity in Zamfara State. The ADC has urged Tinubu to fulfill his responsibility of safeguarding the lives and properties of the people in Zamfara and across the nation. Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC spokesman, criticized Tinubu’s administration for the report that bandits are extorting farmers for N56 million in Zamfara communities. In his statement, Abdullahi noted that the insecurity issues that Tinubu leveraged during his campaign have worsened since he took office. He called on the Nigerian government to take action and restore peace in Zamfara, asserting, “No one is asking for his resignation.” The ADC is not calling for President Tinubu’s resignation; instead, they are simply requesting that he fulfill his responsibilities. We raise an important question: why did the President believe that the security issues in Rivers State justified the declaration of a state of emergency, while the severe kidnapping crisis in Zamfara, which presents a significant challenge to the authority of the Nigerian State through banditry, has not even prompted him to make a statement? “We would like to appeal to President Tinubu to set aside his other concerns and focus on addressing the issues in Zamfara State and other regions affected by banditry.”
