The Chairman of Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Alhaji Munnir Haidara, has alleged that the former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chairman in the area, Sadiq Chiroma, engaged in anti-party activities long before officially defecting to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a statement issued on Sunday following Chiroma’s defection, Haidara claimed the former PDP chairman had been undermining the party ahead of the last state assembly bye-election.
He alleged that Chiroma was repeatedly seen holding secret meetings with APC stakeholders during and after the poll, actions he described as suspicious and contrary to the PDP’s constitution.
Haidara further accused Chiroma of leaking confidential party information and openly working against the PDP’s electoral chances.
He also linked the defection of the party’s former assembly candidate in the bye-election, Mohammed Lawal Kurya Madaro, to Chiroma’s influence.
According to him, the party at the local level was already aware of Chiroma’s alleged actions before his formal exit.
Haidara reiterated the PDP’s support for Governor Dauda Lawal, praising what he called the administration’s “people-oriented projects” in Kaura-Namoda and urging residents to continue backing government initiatives in the area.
He wished the former chairman well in his new political journey but remarked that Chiroma would “reap what he sowed” following his defection.
