Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has expressed sorrow over the death of five persons killed in an explosion along the Gurusu–Gwashi road in Bukkuyum Local Government Area on Wednesday.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Governor Lawal described the incident as a “senseless loss of innocent lives”, noting that the explosive device was planted by armed bandits terrorising the area.
The governor also commiserated with the family of Mu’azu Gwashi, the Vice Chairman of Bukkuyum Local Government Area, who was murdered by his abductors after spending over six months in captivity.
Gwashi was kidnapped earlier this year, with his abductors initially demanding a N30 million ransom. They reportedly collected N15 million but still went ahead to kill him.
Governor Lawal prayed for the repose of the souls of all the victims and asked Allah to grant their families the strength to bear the loss.
