Captain of the Warriors of Zimbabwe, Marshal Munetsi, expressed that qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup would be a more significant achievement for Zimbabwe than for Nigeria’s Super Eagles. Zimbabwe aims to secure their first victory in the World Cup qualifiers when they face the Super Eagles in Uyo on Tuesday. Their earlier encounter in November 2023 ended in a 1-1 draw. Currently, after five matches, Zimbabwe sits at the bottom with three points, while Nigeria holds fourth place with six points. Looking forward to the match, Munetsi emphasized that the Warriors are motivated to create history, stating, “Nigeria is a much bigger football nation, but for us, qualifying for the World Cup would be a more remarkable milestone than it would be for Nigeria. All of us want to achieve something historic, something that has never happened in our country. This aspiration fuels us, especially since our qualification journey hasn’t started as planned, with some points lost away. Unlike Nigeria, we don’t have the advantage of playing home games, but we are here to make our own history, not on vacation.” Written by James Agberebi in Uyo.
