2027: Tinubu supporters kick off door-to-door mobilisation across Ondo State

Posted on September 7, 2026 by CoreNews Africa

2027: Tinubu supporters kick off door-to-door mobilisation across Ondo State By Jacob Akintunde, Akure A support group, Battalions for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Batts 4 BAT, has officially commenced its grassroots mobilisation campaign across Ondo State ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The group said its campaign strategy would take its message from the local government areas to wards, polling units and communities, with a door-to-door and house-to-house mobilisation drive aimed at securing support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. BusinessDay reports that the campaign, which was proudly sponsored by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and led by the group’s Commander, Temitope Iwagun, brought together members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the 18 local government areas of Ondo State. Speaking at the unveiling of the group, Iwagun described Batt 4 BATS as a young women-led platform committed to mobilising Nigerians at the grassroots in support of President Tinubu. She said the group decided to back the President because of what it described as the impact of his reforms across various sectors of the economy. According to her, President Tinubu has demonstrated capacity as a performer whose policies and initiatives have positively affected individuals and families across the country. Iwagun also criticised the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over his reported promise to reintroduce fuel subsidy, insisting that the removal of subsidy was a policy decision that had come to stay. She said, “We are not supporting President Tinubu just because he is a politician, but because he is doing well. Imagine NELFUND. You can get a student loan and you don’t have to say that this isn’t enough support to pay it. You can pay it at any time. That is enough reason for us to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.” She further explained that the group was not established merely for ceremonial political mobilisation, but to build a formidable grassroots structure capable of empowering young people, particularly young women, to participate meaningfully in politics and decision-making. “Batts 4 BATS is beyond ceremonial mobilisation. Like today’s theme, which says, ‘From Grassroots Mobilisation to Strategic Inclusion,’ we are doing all of this because we know that giving youth power and giving young women power at the decision-making table will not be served à la carte. “So, we are showing our capacity. We want to show them that we know that to demonstrate capacity in politics, you must make sure that you have grassroots mobilisation. And that is what we are replicating,” Iwagun said. Also speaking at the event, the representative of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, Oladele Olugbemi, urged members of the group to intensify their grassroots mobilisation efforts and work assiduously towards securing the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027. Olugbemi, who is the Secretary-General of the group, said all efforts should be channelled towards ensuring the continuity of the Tinubu administration. He said the administration had introduced several initiatives which, according to him, were positively affecting Nigerians across different sectors. “The government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the first that has ever happened in the history of Nigeria. This is the first time that we are witnessing not just democracy, but democracy getting to the grassroots and people at the grassroots are benefiting,” he said. According to Olugbemi, the administration’s policies in areas such as infrastructure, education and agriculture are already yielding results. “Everything in Nigeria, for the first time, is working. Roads are under construction, students are happy, loans are being given to students, farmers are enjoying and are happy going to their farms and reaping the dividends of their labour,” he added. He urged the people of Ondo State and Nigerians in general to support the continuation of the Tinubu administration, saying that re-electing the President in 2027 would enable his government to consolidate its ongoing programmes and reforms.
