Le 26 septembre 2002, le Sénégal vivait l’une des plus grandes tragédies maritimes de l’histoire : le naufrage du bateau « Le Joola », au large des côtes gambiennes, emportait plus de 1 800 vies humaines.. Vingt-trois ans plus tard, le souvenir reste intact. Chaque année, familles des victimes, rescapés et autorités se recueillent pour honorer les disparus, dont une majorité n’a jamais été retrouvée. Considéré comme l’un des naufrages les plus meurtriers au monde, le drame du Joola a marqué bien au-delà des frontières sénégalaises.
