​WAFU B U-20 Championship: Flying Eagles Defeat Niger in Penalty Shootout to Secure Spot in Final.    

 

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria, the defending champions, advanced to the finals of the WAFU B U-20 Championship following an intense 4-3 win on penalties against Niger Republic on Sunday. The match ended without goals after 90 minutes of play. In the first half, players Divine Oliseh and Muhammed Abdullahi missed several scoring opportunities for Nigeria. Niger Republic nearly scored near the end of the first half, but goalkeeper Harcourt made an excellent save, maintaining the 0-0 score at halftime. Additionally, it’s noteworthy that four players from the Flying Eagles made the Group Stage Best XI for the tournament. The Flying Eagles couldn’t score despite having the majority of the ball in the second half. Aliyu Zubairu’s team triumphed in the penalty shootout, thanks to Harcourt’s two crucial saves. Captain Daniel Bameyi successfully scored the final penalty for the defending champions.
