The Senegal women’s national basketball team lost to Uganda (70-73, after overtime) on Monday in Abidjan, during its second outing at the AfroBasket 2025. After a promising start to the match, marked by a 9-0 inflicted d’entrée, les Lionnes have progressively lost control in the face of a solid Ugandan defence. A three-point shot by Claire Lamunu on the buzzer allowed the Ugandans to turn heads from the first quarter (17-16), before holding on until the suspense was over. This reversal relegates Senegal to the second place of the group and obliges it to play a decisive barrage match against Rwanda, this Wednesday, to hope to reach the quarterfinals. Facing the Rwandan women, the players of Otis Hughley Jr. will have to raise their level of play to stay in the race for the continental title.
