Invited by the show “L’Invité de Maimouna Ndour Faye” on 7TV (private media), Elimane Pouye, director general of the SOGEPA (Société de gestion des patrimoines de l’État), has lifted the veil on the shadow zones surrounding the Diamniadio UN complex. He acknowledged the irregularities in the management of the project, while denouncing the rumors of a supposed withdrawal of the United Nations from Senegal. A strategic project… but unfinished. Launched under the presidency of Macky Sall, the United Nations building in Diamniadio aimed to make Dakar a regional diplomatic hub, welcoming more than 2 000 international officials from West Africa. “The objective was to regroup all UN agencies in a single modern site, to strengthen Senegal’s presence on the regional diplomatic scene”, recalled M. Pouye.. Installed on 13 hectares, the building extends over 82 000 m2, making it the largest infrastructure in the country. Total investment: 211 billion CFA francs TTC, financed by a private operator via a loan contracted with a Chinese bank, with the guarantee of the State of Senegal. The annual reimbursement is approximately 12 billion CFA francs over a period of 15 to 25 years. A lack of formal agreements.
Diamniadio Headquarters of the UN: “No departure planned, the State remains firm”, assures Elimane Pouye
